According to ESPN, Rocco Baldelli of the Rays is close to signing with the Sox. Not that anybody besides me or JFJ is going to care, but this is the guy who was born in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, grew up as a Red Sox fan, and then contributed to our ALCS downfall by hitting a grand slam at Fenway. Makes you wonder if he strives to get back to his old roots...oh and the Sox are also pursuing John Smoltz of the Braves, ESPN says.

I know that this doesn't beat what the Yanks did, but oh well I'll still comment. John Smoltz - I think he will do good, as long as he doesn't break down Rocco - This guy is plagued with injuries, so we'll see how it goes Takashi Saito - Same thing I said about John Smoltz applys here However, if I were Theo, I would work on that starting pitching staff cuz here's how it currently looks Beckett Matsuzaka Wakefield Lester Buccholz Smoltz Penny That's 7 guys in a 5 man rotation  |
